The Harley Gallery and Foundation
The studio is situated within the grounds of Welbeck Estate, North Nottinghamshire that is part of the Harley Foundation. Founded in 1977 by the late Ivy Duchess of Portland it funds the Harley Gallery and offers subsidised studios to artists, makers and restorers.
Set in the northern most tip of the Sherwood Forest, an area know as the Dukeries, Welbeck is steeped in natural beauty and fascinating history, and makes an ideal weekend escape. There are a number of hotels, B&Bs and self catering places in the surrounding area.
Travelling to the Studio
The nearest train station is Creswell which is on the Robin Hood Line, between Nottingham and Worksop.
The local railway station in Worksop is on the Sheffield to Lincoln line.
Retford Station has a direct schedule to London providing a best journey time of 95 minutes. It is approx 30 minutes by taxi.
The Welbeck Estate is conveniently situated between the M1 (Junction 30) and the A1 (Worksop Exit), three miles to the south of Worksop off the A60 Mansfield Road.
